SOMESHA Worries Somali Media Professional Independency doorway and Security

 Somali Media for Environment Science Health and Agriculture (SOMESHA) concerns the independent Somali Media and journalists associations, whereas the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism continue to abuse the rights to freedom of association and press.

The Secretary General of the Somali Media for Environment Science Health and Agriculture (SOMESHA) H. E. Mr. Daud Abdi Daud who was invited to participate an multi-stakeholder dialogue forum on safety of Somali Journalists today on April 21, 2018 and organized by the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism with technical and financial support from UNESCO and Somali Media Support Group (SMSG).

When the meeting was started without memorandum of understanding among Somalia independent journalists associations and the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism SOMESHA Secretary General decided not to take part the dialogue without having professional program with imperative agenda in which describes how the Ministry is planning to deal with the independent associations in across Somalia.

“First of all, on behalf of our association we are with all our partner organizations like the National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ), Somali Media for Peace and others throughout the country who was not invited to join the conversation and the donors by supporting the international media laws due to our country’s independent media and professional journalists away forward but we are not recognized to meet bogus journalists association backed by the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism and see for those used to send us threat messages and continuing to do a widespread of news over social media to their advantage when releasing threatening to us due to our journalism protection job” said Mr. Daud Abdi Daud SOMESHA, Secretary General

“Me from SOMESHA and the Ministries from the regional states of the Federal Government of Somalia including Puntland, Jubbaland, Southwest and Hirshabelle and Galmudug states we decided to keep away from the meeting due to the prolonged corruption within the Ministry of Information as well as the unprofessional conduct” Mr. Daud added

As emerging climate change matters continue driving global diversity needs growth, rising demand for resources and infrastructure are leading to increased community integration productions. This is creating a unique opportunity to refresh peace and intercultural journalism for sustainable and resilient diversity smart reserves.

Whereas we media professionals, to achieve for Sustainable Development” to contribute to inclusive growth and reduction of social inequalities as part of interventions to support the priorities set by our governments, regional and International inter-governmental organizations including the United Nations (UN). Somali journalists need to obtain preventing the countering violent extremism (PCVE) workshops to win all.

SOMESHA also calls independent probe towards how the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism is dealing with Somalia independent associations including her staff profession status who was among Somalia Islamist  insurgents before the President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed as well as some media outlets who has a close ties with the Ministry.
