Muqdisho, April 12, 2021–The president of Galmudug state Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoor-Qoor who spoke to the media said that it is not possible to extend the term of government institutions as the transition period is underway and plans are underway to hold elections.
Ahmed Qoor-Qoor, a close ally of the Somali presidency, has made it clear that if Farmajo announces his candidacy he will be like any other aspiring presidential candidate.
“I do not believe that there is extension of the government institutions, we are in political times and it is not right to extend time, the country is a choice, we must surrender to the country and the people, if Farmajo declares his interest as a candidate then I’ll see him like any other candidate, ”said President Qoor-Qoor.
A message to FGS members of parliament informing them that today’s agenda is an election-related motion, reinforcing doubts about the government’s intention to extend its term.
Finally, he lamented that the outgoing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo was being pressured into his power during this transition period to at least write a letter stating that the work was being done by the Transitional Federal Government.
