Somali Cabinet Reviews Ongoing Anti-Al-Shabaab Operation Initiatives In Latest Meeting.

MUQDISHO – In a weekly meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Salah Jama, the Somali Cabinet engaged in comprehensive discussions regarding the ongoing military operations against Al-Shabaab.

Top security commanders provided the Council of Ministers with detailed briefings on the latest updates and progress achieved in the offensive against terrorism.

Deputy Prime Minister Salah Jama, leading the meeting, guided the Council in a thorough review of the current anti-terrorist operations. According to insiders, the session included reports from senior security officials highlighting both “the achievements and challenges encountered during the military campaign.”

The most recent operations, at the forefront of the discussion, targeted two Al-Shabaab strongholds in the villages of Garab-la and Jacar in the Galgadud region. The successful offensive which was backed by international allies, resulted in the destruction of weapons and vehicles used by the group.

Simultaneously, the Somali government has been actively engaged in reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts in areas recently liberated from Al-Shabaab control. Focusing on the improvement of essential infrastructure, including schools and classrooms, these initiatives aim to restore normalcy and provide a conducive environment for the residents of these areas that had been liberated from grip of Al-Shabaab.

With the support of its partners, the Ministry of Education has played a crucial role in increasing school-age enrollments in the recently liberated regions. The concerted efforts in education reflect the government’s commitment to rebuilding communities affected by the grip of the Al-Shabaab groups and creating opportunities for the younger generation.
