Muqdisho | QOL | isniin , Feberaayo 24, 2020 —Speaking in an event in the capital Mogadishu, Banadir regional governor Omar Mohamud Mohamed raised concern over the surging of Forex trading firms in Somalia.
The Mayor pointed out that this services poses a threat to the Somali community, it is pivotal that the people involved to shun away as it can cause financial harm to the people. said the mayor.
The mayor sent a stern warning to the Somali citizens who invested in the Forex trading, ”this Forex firms that were recently launched in various parts of the country and people see it as an opportunity of gaining wealth easily will finally put the people at risk if they won’t consider taking it seriously.” added the mayor.
Its my responsibility as a leader to address, alarm and disclose to my people whatever i see as risky. further said the mayor.
The mayor has earlier this week issued a press statement banning the issuance of licenses to Forex trading firms.
Meanwhile, the central bank said in a letter yesterday that there is no firm registered to perform Forex services in the country. The bank advised members of the public to be careful and not fall prey to these Forex schemes in the country which will eventually collapse and the investors will lose their capital.
