MOGADISHU | March 28, 2023 – The Mayor of Mogadishu Yusuf Hussein Jimale (Madale) received the Special Representative of the Chairman of the African Union Commission in Somalia, who is also the head of ATMIS Souef Mohamed El-Amine.
The meeting discussed the strengthening of cooperation between the Banadir Regional administration and the ATMIS, as well as the implementation of the security plan for the capital and the overall operations against Al-Shabaab in the country.
The Governor of Banadir Region praised the African Union (ATMIS) for the role they played in the development and security of Somalia, by sacrificing their blood and lives.
”I visited today the Benadir Governor and the Mayor of Mogadishu H.E Yusuf Hussien Jim’ale (Madale). We exchanged on the activities of the Mission and their contribution to stabilization, as well as on the prospects and cooperation. I thank them for their warm welcome and the quality of our exchanges,” said the AU diplomat.
Souef noted that ATMIS will continue to support the elimination of Al-Shabaab and the acceleration of operations in the country which the SNA achieve great success.
The Special Envoy of the African Union said that before December 2024 ATMIS will work hard to hand over security responsibility to Somali army who are taking full charge.
