Mogadishu – President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sh. Mohamud commended Hormuud Telecommunication Company’s role in creating job opportunities for 35,000 individuals across the country.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 5G technology internet network in Mogadishu, Somalia, the President congratulated the leadership of the company on their distribution to the people and country as well, saying that his Government will support it.
“Imagine the impact of 35 thousand individuals employed by Hormuud. Each person working for Hormuud creates numerous livelihoods for others, amplifying the positive ripple effect on the broader community. The Somali people have a deep understanding of the essential role played by Hormuud in improving lives through the direct and indirect effects of their job creation”, he said.
Chairman of the Somali Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mahmoud Abdikarin Gabeyre also praised the Hormuud for its share in extending humanitarian assistance to the floods and droughts affected community in the country.
““Whenever there is a disaster such as floods or drought, Hormuud is the first company to respond and contribute the largest share of relief”, Gabeyre said.
However, the Somali Government’s staff is said to be only around 10’000, showing the significant role of the private sectors to employment opportunities and this would reduce insecurity and poverty.
